Rock’s Heterogeneity Evaluation using a Revised Lorenz Coefficient, from Interwell Tracer Tests performed in Waterflooding Oil Reservoirs. Neuquén Basin, Argentina Rocks’ heterogeneity is usually evaluated using the Lorenz coefficient obtained from an F-PHI plot. However an F-PHI curve, obtained from an interwell tracer record, does not only represent the effect of heterogeneity, it also represents the effect of the flow geometry. This is why the authors believe it is necessary to distinguish between this both effects to achieve a better evaluation of heterogeneity. This paper introduces an alternative way to calculate the Lorenz coefficient from F-PHI plots. In this way, only heterogeneity effect is considered and the geometry effect is canceled. The application of this new method requires having interwell tracer records and compute streamlines in a homogeneous medium.
