Timing between the generation-expulsion-migration process of hydrocarbons and the traps formation in the Flanco Norandino area. Western Venezuela Basin The Flanco Norandino area is one of the most attractive exploratory areas in the Western Venezuela. Few wells drilled in the area exist but abundant manifestations of fluids (oil seeps and gas) on the surface have been found, confirming that the petroleum system is working and active. The key uncertainty is the timing between the ages of generation-expulsion-migration of the hydrocarbons and the structuring ages, specifically toward the south of the study area; since the latter process was associated with the uplifting of the Andean Mountains that began in the Middle to Late Miocene to Pliocene, hence the formation of the traps is are very recent. Through 1D geochemical models of eight wells located over the cinematic model of a NE-SE geological cross-section, two important pulses of expulsion were established. We proposed that the first pulse of expulsion (Middle Miocene) is the responsible for the filling of the traps in the Tomoporo and Franquera fields. The last pulse of expulsion is responsible for filling the Andean structures, aware that the risk is only hydrocarbon charge since the Pliocene to Recent because movement of the Andes ends in the Pliocene.
