Deposicional Cycles of Quintuco and Vaca Muerta Formations: Genesis and Evolution. Central Area - Neuquén Basin The present contribution deals with the description of the depositional cycles and the sedimentary evolution of the Tithonian – Valanginian (Fms Quintuco – Vaca Muerta) depositional system. It is composed by 5 minor transgressive-regressive cycles starting with a generalized marine flooding event with deposition of organic shales and after the second maximum transgressive surface starts a dominant regressive interval till the end of the entire cycle with the Intravalanginian unconformity. The second regressive interval shows the presence of a gravitational collapse in one of the clinoforms identified and delimited through seismic information. There exists in outcrops similar events associated with depositional intervals where a strong unbalance between sedimentary supply and available space is present. The later cycles have more equilibrated sedimentary balance and shows gentle depositional prograding surfaces.
