One of the key new developments is the creation of so called "point-thebit" systems. In this paper, we describe the first of these systems to have all elements of the bottom-hole assembly rotating. This presents a significant advantage in terms of prevention of cuttings accumulation around the BHA, reduced likelihood of becoming stuck and ability to back-ream. We present a number of case studies that indicate the reliability and broad functionality of the system.
