In: Summary: Transcripción del abstract original del autor: Absorption chillers have been attractive because they use no CFCs and HCFCs. In Japan, the first model was installed in 1968, gas-fired absorption chillers greatly increased to reach 7.14 MRT (25MkW) in capacity in 2000. Now, absorption chillers occupy 70% or more of large-sized building air-conditioning. High efficiency and miniaturization had a great advance. The COP of them made a great progress from 0.75 in 1968 to 1.35 now. The size reached one third now compared with in 1968. Otherwise in order to save energy, power reduction by the control of chilled water circulation and cooling-water circulation is as important and effective as fuel reduction by raising cycle efficiency of absorption chillers. By flow rate control of chilled water and cooling water in proportion to the load, 25 - 50% curtailment of power is possible in a common office building. Furthermore, the new system combined with an absorption chiller and a micro gas turbine is under development. The exhaust gas from the micro gas turbine included high concentration of oxygen, is introduced into the high temperature generator of the absorption chiller as air for combustion. The electric power generated from the micro gas turbine is used for solution and water pumps of the absorption chiller, besides combustion fan power is unnecessary. Then superficial power generation efficiency exceeds 70%, 20% curtailment from now is possible for life cycle consumption energy. This report introduces the efforts of high efficiency and reduction power of absorption chillers.
