Transcripción del abstract original del autor: Persian LNG has the potential to be a leading contributor to the drive by the Islamic Republic of Iran to achieve a significant role in world gas export markets matching its enormous proven reserves. The project had, at the start of 2003, successfully completed feasibility studies which confirmed a number of positive factors. Three strong and credible partners, the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), Repsol YPF and Shell, who combine experience in upstream, midstream and downstream phases of LNG. A low cost reserve base allowing the project to be competitive and expand for the long term A plant featuring Shell’s latest GameChanger™ technology which shows significant benchmarked unit cost advantages against LNG projects being implemented today The networks of Repsol and Shell, including shipping, marketing and access to regasification terminals, give rise to particular market opportunities in Spain and India. These coupled with the worldwide relationships of NIOC can launch the project in the face of current intense international competition to develop greenfield LNG projects. Taken together, these factors allow Persian LNG to approach both Eastern and Western markets with confidence and make use of Iran’s favourable location. This flexibility gives greater assurance of success in a changing world market, where accurate predictions become more difficult. The partners are now pressing ahead rapidly to conclude a comprehensive package of project agreements which will allow the project to proceed to the next stage of technical development and thence to construction. If this can be completed on the most aggressive schedule, first deliveries are possible around the end of 2007.
