This paper gives an example of the way the transmission company of the Netherlands, Gasunie, has translated the broad issue of sustainable development into concrete projects and activities. Topics described are: * The added value of sustainable development for the gas industry * Strategy for implementation * Project development with local authorities (Energy Valley) * Stakeholder analyses * Monitoring and benchmarking of sustainability * A sustainable Head Office * Energy Business School (Energy Delta) With these concrete activities we are showing that the gas industry can play an important role in the transition towards a sustainable future.
