Transcripción del abstract original del autor: Gas heating and ventilation systems requirements must evolve to meet the market needs in particular customers desire more flexibility for installation, operation and a better level of comfort. Gas technologies for air handling units have not evolve significantly over the last 25 years and in North American, it does not meet the same comfort levels of heating and the same cost of installation when compared to an electric installation. Also, a North American market survey is giving us the signal that more efficient units are required for heating applications, and more flexibility in designing is required by engineers when come the need to replace an existing system to natural gas for air make up or air handling. TEGA understood that innovation was the way to follow in order to present solutions to those problems in an important market for the natural gas commercial, industrial and institutional sectors. More than 130 000 units were identified in North America to be either converted from one energy to another or replaced. TEGA together with GAZ METROPOLITAIN and the NATURAL GAS TECHNOLOGIES CENTER undertook the development of a gas fired heat exchanger system. In order to make it easy to specify, cost, and construct a specific application, tailored to a specific customer condition, the system would be able to choose from a variable number of tubes of variable sizes each being independently controlled for the firing rate. The air to air tube exchanger is designed with a mathematical software (CAD: Computer Aided Design), tested at the NATURAL GAS TECHNOLOGIES CENTER, who takes into account the parameters and conditions of the customer. Also TEGA developed another software that takes the results of the design and prepares fabrication drawings including bill of material, weight and prices. Such a system allows great saving of time for technicians and engineers in the design phase, a better fit to the specific conditions since a custom design is produced, and easier installation results.
