Development of triple-effect absorption chiller-heater

By: Contributor(s): Description: 9 pDDC classification:
  • CD I249 1 0013788
In: Summary: Transcripción del abstract original del autor: The need to improve the energy efficiency of air conditioning systems has been growing significantly over the past few years, and the demand for major increases in the efficiency of absorption chiller-heater systems used in office buildings and other similar locations is also growing. Working at the request of the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), the Japan Gas Association is working together with four absorption chiller manufacturers on the development of commercially viable triple-effect absorption chiller-heaters. During the first year of the development project, a 527kW prototype system was created which reached a cooling COP of 1.49, a level that cannot be reached using double-effect systems. The results of durability tests extending over a period of 2,000 hours of operation were also favorable.
