In: Summary: Transcripción del abstract original del autor: DME (Dimethylether, CH3-O-CH3) has been heretofore produced by dehydration of methanol from natural gas only in a small scale for a cosmetic use. This paper reports recent status of development of DME in Japan as a large scale clean fuel derived from natural gas, the new synthesis technology and its potential markets. The paper also addresses to an actual project for technology development under a subsidy from Japanese government, and a feasibility study in both of which TotalFinaElf has participated with major Japanese companies.
