Transcripción del abstract original del autor: The possibilities to use municipal solid waste as a source of renewable energy and to provide a solution to the environmental problems, at the same time, have been investigated and considering the use of anaerobic digestion of the organic waste. Municipal solid waste which contain also organic matter is very heterogeneous group of materials as their composition, structure and origin are concerned. The most important fraction of municipal waste is the household waste. The volume and the composition of this material depends widely on the settling structure, nutritional habits, living standards, etc. of the population of the particular area. Reliable analyses of the composition characteristics and collected volumes of household waste, therefore are precondition of the planning of waste treatment plants. The intention of producing biogas from Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) as a raw material can definitely be connected to diversification and conservation energy program of the National Energy Policy. Since biogas production from MSW is very potential in terms of environment, engineering and social feasibility, and based on the results of the proposed biogas pilot plant, it is hope that commercial installation of biogas production facilities could be realized soon.
