Resumen del autor, extraído del trabajo. It is increasingly widely recognized by investors and financial analysts that there is a strong and growing correlation between industrial companies' "eco-efficiency" and their competitiveness and financial performance. Innovest Strategic Value Advisors, Inc. has created the EcoValue '21 analytics platform for the express purpose of assessing the strategic risks and profit opportunities of major industrial companies, translating them into financial terms, and thereby unlocking hidden value potential for investors. Over the past year, despite the stock market's considerable volatility, an enhanced S&P 500 portfolio index based upon EcoValue '21 has consistently out-performed it S&P 500 benchmark by 150-200 basis points. Similar results were found in the Petroleum industry, indicating that investor returns can be substantially improved by investing in companies with superior eco-efficiency. Among petroleum companies, wide variations exist in environmental risk exposure and management capability to manage risk and capitalize on environmentally-driven business opportunities. These differences have strong implications for stock price performance.
