Resumen del autor, extraído del trabajo. Under present circumstances, and during the industrial operations concerning the production of the intermediate products while producing the synthetic detergents base of the type dodecyl benzene with the chemical formula C12H25C6H5, usually four types of by-product, as described below, can be produced: 1. A component commonly described as ‘light tetramer’, which is a light polymer with carbon atoms not less than 11. 2. A component commonly described as ‘heavy tetramer’, which is a propylene polymer with carbon atoms not more than 13 and less than 18 in polymer molecule. 3. A component commonly described as ‘light alkylate’, with a lower molecular weight than that of dodecyl benzene. 4. A component commonly described as ‘heavy alkylate’ with a higher molecular weight than that of dodecyl benzene. It is noted that the first two components mentioned above are usually produced in the propylene polymerization unit, and the last two in the benzene alkylation unit. In this research work, we shall try to describe a process aimed at producing iso-paraffinic solvents from a heavy tetramer by-product.
