In: v. 2, p. 87-98Summary: The USGS has completed a new assessment of the undiscovered oil and gas resources of the world. One hundred and five geologic provinces were analyzed for assessment. Assessment units (AU) that comprise Total Petroleum Systems (TPS) were identified and described for each of these provinces. The AU served as the basis for assessing undiscovered petroleum. Within these provinces, 157 Total Petroleum Systems (TPS) and 270 assessment units (AU) were assessed. The assessment process employed geologic analyses coupled with a probabilistic methodology.
