Identification of Sedimentary Bodies through special processes and seismic attributes in Mina El Carmen Fm., North Flank of Golfo San Jorge Basin.Mina El Carmen formation (Golfo San Jorge Basin, Argentina) contains numerous reservoirs whose contribution to the production of the Basin acquires important relevance. Its main reservoirs are linked to sedimentary bodies resulting from fluvial-lacustrine deposition in low relief plains developed in proximity to volcanic areas. Consequently, the lateral variations of facies, pinchouts and sedimentary discontinuities for example, generate low connectivity among the reservoirs. This situation sometimes becomes critical from the point of view of field development. In terms of thickness, reservoirs are generally below the seismic resolution, which implies important difficulty for the detection of sand bodies (potential reservoirs). Because of this, it is necessary to apply different interpretation tools and special processes in order to detect (and/or visualize) such reservoirs, establish their geometry, orientation, extension and position in the stratigraphic column.It is well known that the stratigraphic factor has a very preponderant role when the objective is to identify combined traps. From the methodologies exposed in this study different examples result, tending to identify potential reservoirs in different oilfields. A detailed well-log correlation as well as a velocity model correctly adjusted with the available geological is required. Finally, one specific interpretation workflow is established which can help in planning and developing primary and/or enhanced oil recovery projects, as well as in providing necessary support for any advanced prospect in undeveloped areas. This will also apply to other prospects for deep exploration below the productive interval, in order to incorporate new reservoirs in this particularly complex geologic formation.
