| Resumen | In the Vaca Muerta Formation there are different stratigraphic sequences of economic interest. In this context, a common development strategy is based on the drilling and completion of multi-well and multi-landing horizontal well PADs. The characterization of the stimulated rock volume (SRV) associated with each individual drain is key to optimize stimulation, its associated production and to reduce costs. This work presents the results of a joint time-lapse (4D) seismic and surface microseismic monitoring. Aspects related to data acquisition and interpretation are presented in a multi-well multi-landing PAD with four wells targeting three different stratigraphic sequences. The study was carried out in Aguada Pichana Este (a block operated by TotalEnergies), with the objective of obtaining an image of the individual SRV of each drain and mapping potential interferences between them. The joint interpretation of the two methodologies seeks to optimize the characterization of the SRVs. Microseismic highlights the lineaments and faults that are reactivated during stimulation, revealing potential communication pathways. The discrimination of the focal mechanisms and their statistical analysis allow studying the geomechanical response of each stratigraphic sequence to the completion job. 4D seismic provides a direct image of the fractured rock volume with unprecedent definition of lateral, but particularly vertical extension, which is key in this multi-well scenario with potential vertically stacked SRVs. The 4D inversion allowed obtaining images of the stimulated volumes of each horizontal drain, accurately resolving their vertical thicknesses and lateral dimensions. Far from the simplified models, the SRVs reveal interesting features with a spatial distribution consistent with the inhomogeneous deployment of fracture stages. The results are specific to each sequence of interest and provide important information on the development of stimulated rock volumes for different lithologies and geomechanical properties. The average dimensions obtained from the SRVs were used in multiple history match runs (Enhanced Frac Region model of Harmony Enterprise software) to contrast their representativeness. These results impact development strategies in many ways. Well spacing, both lateral and vertical, can be quantified and used to maximize expected ultimate recovery (EUR). The joint interpretation of the 4D and microseismic data revealed the reactivation of structures (faults / lineaments) that help to understand the dynamic behavior of the wells. At the field scale, we anticipate conducting joint 4D-microseismic acquisitions at specific PADs that will allow us improving understanding of SRV development over space and time to de-risk and optimize resource development. |
