Resumen El Cerrito Oeste is a gas field, producer from Magallanes Inferior, M2, which is a low permeability shaly sandstone reservoir. In general, the reservoir net pay is within the 10-15 meters range, with a total porosity of 24% and permeability from 0.01 to 4mD. This field shows a good correlation between Total Gas and AVO (III) anomalies. AVO alone cannot discriminate areas with poor gas quality sands from areas with gas sands with good petrophysical properties. On the other hand, standard seismic characterization approaches such as Simultaneous Inversion, fails to properly build reliable elastic volumes because of both, lack of seismic vertical resolution and the wavelet dependency of the method. To provide a more quantitative support to both the development and delineation of the field, a different approach is implemented to yield a higher definition seismic and more robust elastic property volumes. The native seismic along its angle stacks are conditioned to be used as input to a proprietary vertical resolution enhancement workflow we called Fibonacci Decomposition in which each seismic trace is decomposed into frequency components based on the Fibonacci Series. Later, a supervised machine learning (PCA) is applied, the supervisor is a weighted frequency dependent object function (log), and the input nodes are the frequency components, the weights of the function are selected in a way to optimize the vertical separation of key changes observed in the P-impedance log. Different frequency wavelets (25-75Hz) are used to build synthetic seismograms, there will be a minimum frequency from which the second order vertical changes observed in the Zp log are coincident with the synthetic Peaks and Troughs and with the native seismic x-crossings. We have developed a workflow called Seismic Geometric Decomposition to emulate this empirical behavior observed in the synthetic seismograms. To overcome the wavelet dependency of the inversion methods an alternative approach is proposed, the enhanced Intercept and Gradient volumes are used to build Extended Elastic impedances for Zp, Rhob, LR, MR and Poisson reflectivity. A 90-degree shift is applied to the reflectivity to be used as input to a Colored Inversion process. Later, all the enhanced reflectivity volumes, its frequency components, the Colored inverted volumes, and the high-resolution SGD volumes feed a Neural Network supervised by the full resolution elastic logs to build very robust elastic volumes. These high-resolution elastic properties are used to produce a Pseudo Deep Resistivity volume which is used to provide support to the drilling strategy of the field.
