| Resumen | Sequence stratigraphy is a geological model driven by relative changes of the sea-level that allows organizing and understanding the evolution of depositional systems. In this work, evolutionary models were carried out considering the sea level changes in continental, littoral and marine settings, related to tectonic and climate factors. It is analyzed how the changes in the thermal mantle flow control the tectonic and the dynamic topography affecting the oceanic spreading rate, the eustatic changes, the continental uplift/subsidence and the climate. The feedback between continental uplift /climate and sea-floor spreading against sea-level changes implies a delayed response. Sequence stratigraphy model was applied in fluvial setting in response to the changes of the fluvial equilibrium profile guided by the sea-level changes. This circumstance is considered not likely to occur along the entire longitudinal profile of a fluvial system. Its evolution is considered complex, where tectonic, isostasy, subsidence, climate and the eustatic changes are the main controlling factors. The analysis refers to the impact of these factors on the fluvial setting throughout its development. On the other hand, onset of deep water depositional systems related to canyons as results of oceanic processes was separated from fluvial influence. The main factors that control the evolution of submarine canyons are regarded as tectonic and climate origin. The fluvial sediment supply is not ruled out in the deep-water sediments related to interglacial or high discharge periods (climate control), but besides, also continental uplift (tectonic control) enhancing the relative sea level fall. Also, many of deep water turbidites are the product of littoral destructive processes developed during storms or sea level rise periods. |
