Resumen When drilling exploration or development wells in environmentally sensitive areas, it is required to take extreme care at the moment to define the final destination of the drilling cuttings when they are saturated with drilling fluids; either water or oil base. This has been a subject of special attention, considering that the environmental regulations of each region establish standards and define chemical parameters for the disposal of these residues in appropriate places.Among the known methods we can mention: Land Farming, Landspreading, Thermal Processes, Chemical Oxidation and De-emulsification, Solids Washing, Dewatering, Centrifuging, and Inerting, among others. All these methods require the preparation of suitable areas for the disposal of the contaminated cuttings, while they are being treated by one of the previous methods. At the same time, it is required a work of monitoring the chemical processes as a function of time. In this sense, many of these processes are expensive and sometimes with unfavorable results. For instance, since treatment pools might be flooded by rainwater, there is a risk of percolation of the associated fluids, compromising the water table, or breakage of the dikes. In wells drilled at the jungle, the conditions are extreme, because the cuttings must be treated at the same location where the drilling is taking place, existing similar risks that the ones mentioned above and sometimes with questionable results. The reinjection of cutting or Cutting Re-Injection (CRI), is a safe method, but requires a complete study before its feasibility can be defined. The present work presents the workflow of tasks that must be completed, in order to carry out a successful reinjection work of cutting in formations that meet certain geological, petrophysical and geomechanical characteristics. The technique consists of an in-situ treatment, grinding the cuttings and mixing them with water and chemical products, until achieving an adequate slurry that will be injected into formation, with auxiliary equipment existing in the market.A CRI project can be done by converting an old exploratory well that has not been successful; by drilling a "sink" well; or even rigless (without equipment). The advantage of this method is that under the appropriate conditions the reinjection is done in the same location where the drilling is taking place, without the need of long storage periods and canceling the risks of transporting the cuttings to a final disposal site.
