Resumen Vega-Pléyade Field is located at 20 kilometers offshore Tierra del Fuego, on the Mar Argentino. First production came in on February 2016 with two horizontal wells. The main reservoirs are represented by the Paloma sequence of the Springhill Formation (Hauterivian), at the top of the stratigraphic reservoir column. It is composed of quartzose and arkosic sandstones, ranging from fine to coarse and very coarse-grained, subangular, moderate sorted with scarce chloritic and kaolinitic matrix. The coarse-grained facies are arranged in massive packages with no sedimentary structures interfingered with fine-grained sandstones displaying diffuse parallel lamination and/or hummocky cross stratification (HCS). These units overlay the shoreface and tidal deposits of Argo sequence unconformably (erosive or paraconcordant). These "massive sandstones" were observed in Vega-Pléyade field, as well as in other offshore fields, remaining very widespread. Given the stratigraphic location and the fluids distribution within structure, around 85% of the gas accumulation is contained in this type of reservoirs, which typically have porosities of 15 - 33% and permeabilities reaching up to 1 Darcy. On the other hand, Argo sequence holds the remaining 15% of the Vega-Pléyade gas, stored in littoral, tidal (channels and bars) and shoreface sandstone reservoirs, which were partially eroded and reworked by the coarse grained facies of Paloma sequence. The reservoir properties are considerably lower than the Paloma ones with permeabilities of a tens to hundreds of milidarcies. The depositional setting of the main reservoirs in Paloma sequence are interpreted as sandy shelf facies association deposited during multi-episodic storm events transported on mixed bed / suspended load. The former creates sandy debris flows while the latter ones are deposited by traction plus fallout mechanisms in a turbulence setting (due to hydraulic jump and the development of hummocky cross stratification) as well as the deposition of coarser suspended load (laminar stratification). The interpreted depositional morphology of these facies is lobe-shaped bodies that may be confined or unconfined. The sandy units would be therefore the direct result of marine reworking of previous littoral deposits (foreshore, upper shoreface, as well as tidal and even fluvial channels) during storm events. The existence of this type of facies associations open debate on the foreshore and intertidal deposits preservation during transgressive vs. regressive periods, as well as the type and origin of the sequence boundary of the Paloma sequence.
