| Resumen | Microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC) is considered one of the main corrosion mechanisms difficult to identify and mitigate. For decades, conventional monitoring techniques have been used, which have shown in recent years of research, not be enough to identify the reservoir microbiome and define corrosion mitigation strategies in conventional and unconventional reservoirs.Among the main types of bacteria that cause MIC corrosion, there are “Sulphate Reducing Bacteria” (SRB), “Acid Producing Bacteria” (APB), “Biofilm Formers” and Iron Oxidizing Bacteria” (IOB) among others. Although there are different methods of detecting bacteria, all of them identify a limited variety of species which contribute to the corrosion processes and in many cases, there is complete ignorance regarding the majority population. An experience of application of innovative techniques of microbiological evaluation in a Neuquén Basin Field will be presented. The operation in these areas began in 2004, with secondary recovery starting in 2006. Its reservoir is made up of unconsolidated sandstones prone to produce sand.As part of this innovative approach, an integrated vision is considered, which allows us to evaluate the current situation, draw up a profile of microbial communities and develop a customized solution. The study stages consider: - “Determination of the microbial count by inoculation methods and adenosine triphosphate technique (ATP)”.- Extraction of DNA samples for determination of:lQuantitative: by measures of qPCR (total bacteria, sulfate reducing prokaryotes and total archaea).lQualitative: identification of species presents through NGS (Next Generation Sequencing), followed by analysis of the proportion of these that present metabolisms associated with MIC.The work described will demonstrate that the definition of the microbiome of the deposits requires knowledge of specialists and the application of DNA study techniques to identify critical species for MIC, not evidenced in conventional techniques. The most successful result is obtained when collaboration and experience are shared between Operators, service companies and biocide suppliers. |
