Resumen Rincón del Mangrullo (RDM)field hada sporadic exploratory campaign since 1977 and a small development of 7 well in 2005, thus proving its gas field potential. It wasnot until the end of 2013,driven by the Gas Plus incentive program that attention was brought down to it again. Since then, the field has experienced a rapid growth with over 110 producing wells and a production peak of 5 million m3/d.The development of the field was carried out mainly by drilling vertical wells at a distance of 1000m between them as a result of the first type well models. Because most of the net pay has a permeability lower than 0.1 mD (tight reservoir), all wells had to be hydraulically fractured to achieve commercial rates. Reservoir characterization and production forecasting is therefore complicated using classical analysis techniques.Rate Transient Analysis (RTA) is presented as a suitable alternative for reservoir characteristics such as RDM, having the advantage of no requiring to shut in the well and no incurring in associated production losses. Additionally, there’s a very good well head pressure data base since 95% of the wells have online pressure measurements, excellent input data for the proposed analysis. At the end of 2016, a collaborative task was carried out among all RDM reservoir engineers with the aim of obtaining RTA interpretations for all the wells in the field. The challenge was to define a standardized methodology so that all interpretations could be comparable. Even more, the calculation of bottom hole pressure was automatized with Macros linking a spreadsheet with nodal analysis software. This allowed a better understanding of the reservoir by detecting zones with different petrophysical properties and drainage radii. Also by adding value to the Infill Project currently being developed. On the other hand, as flow regimes are identified, better frac-plans are being generated to adapt fracture conductivity depending on the area.In light of the good match obtained, production forecasting methodology has migrated in the field from conventional decline rate analysis to RTA. In addition, it is possible to identify individual well problems when there are deviations.
