Resumen A large number of single well pads have been developed in North American shales. The current trend is away from single-well pads to multi-well pads. Cost and efficiency benefits around batch drilling and completion have been realized, but current methodologies for connecting wells to frac spreads rely on old technology developed for conventional pressure pumping operations. These traditional technologies are low cost, but are not optimized for modern multi-well pad operations. A system designed to reduce material movement and moving as much of the non-productive preparatory work out of critical path operations is necessary to improve completion economics. Reducing exposure to health, safety, and environmental risks is a key deliverable of a system that can meet the needs of operators and service companies. An alternate system to the conventional methodology is presented, with development history, and an examination of how the implementation can improve operational efficiency in unconventional play development is shown. The application to multi-well pads in unconventional developments is demonstrated with examples of implementation. Additional potential paths of improvement are examined; notes on potential operational impact are also discussed
