| Resumen | Transcripción del resumen del autor. Optical imaging diagnostics has been applied to the fuel jet of a direct-injection diesel engine for a better understanding of combustion for three different fuels mixing regular diesel fuel and rapeseed methyl ester. Techniques allowing both time and spatial descriptions permitted to assess physical and chemical processes during combustion. These conditions have been reproduced in an optical engine with a large optical access, providing a quasi-quiescent environment at top-dead center (TDC) and avoiding wall interactions on diesel sprays. Fuel has been injected by a real Bosch injector equipped with an eight-hole nozzle and was supplied to the injector at high pressure by an electronically controlled common rail system. The same facility has been used for both inert and reacting conditions. Several optical configurations have been set to perform the whole analysis, including high-speed imaging for liquid-phase fuel penetration, soot luminosity measurements, and time-resolved intensified imaging to detect apparition of CH and OH chemiluminescence and early soot radiations. |
