| Resumen | Resumen del autor, extraído del trabajo. The different techniques to limit NOx formation in gas turbine applications are water injection, lean premixed combustion and catalytic oxidation. Among them, the latest is the most promising and efficient way to reduce NOx formation to a single digit. IFP has been working for several years now on the adaptation of catalytic combustion to gas turbine. The expertise developed in this field enables to propose a new concept of burner based on a first catalytic combustion zone followed by a second homogeneous combustion zone. Thus, only part of the fuel is burnt in the catalytic section in order to maintain the temperature of the catalyst under 1000°C. Whatever the operating conditions, the secondary combustion also limits the local temperature peaks so that the NOx formation remains negligible. The combustion of natural gas or Diesel fuel represents the preferred field of development of this technology but it can also be applied to alternative fuels such as LHV gases. For a lower cost, the performances of catalytic combustion are much higher than water or steam injection. The other possible alternative, lean premix combustors, can only reach 20 ppm of NOx for a comparable cost. |
