| Resumen | Petroleum, being the most strategic commodity in international trade, is a major pace-setter for global development. Nevertheless each barrel of oil traded since early 80s has been undervalued. It is mainly attributed to the vaguely-matched in and out-bound logistics that kept the deals far from being globalized and bidded for optimum value. Thus, paving the way for unabated petroleum supplies such indiscreetly organized deals culminated into persistent oil price depression. Moreover, increasing geographic imbalance between the potential sources of petroleum supplies and intensity of demand presages insecurity of energy while the nations are becoming closely interdependent. Hence vulnerability of oil prices coupled with daunting energy supplies can be construed as an impending threat to both energy and economic development. However, logistical transparency would, of course, help achieving the developmental mission through value optimization provided the deals conform to the global business and technological advances. Therefore, globalizing petrotrade has become strategic imperative in the emerging challenges. It would lead the ways to the means of creating optimum value of each barrel imperious for development. |
