Resumen In the industry current situation there is an important pressure to reduce the development costs. Although using well-to-well correlations is a common practice to decide the intervals to complete, these are not always reliable, especially when the reservoirs have poor lateral continuity. Therefore, the data acquisition continues to be critical in the decision-making process, but optimization is essential to maintain the project financial viability. To reduce costs, one of the options explored by many operators in Argentina and around the world is to move the data acquisition from open hole (OH) to cased hole (CH), performing the operations without the drilling rig. This saves the time to condition the well in addition to the logging operations, saving several rig days. Not all the OH logs are available in CH, and the corrections required to remove the casing and cement effects add uncertainty, but the CH logs can be an effective solution to reduce costs for wells drilled "infill" where the formations are known and the petrophysical properties and models are well calibrated.In this paper we will present our experience comparing OH logs to CH measurements obtained with a new slim pulsed neutron logging (PNL) tool and array sonic devices. The PNL tools are commonly used to evaluate formations through casing due to the ability of neutrons and gamma rays to probe the reservoir rock through casing and cement. Based on the neutron interactions with the minerals and the fluids contained in the pore space, pulsed neutron measurements are sensitive to different formation properties, such as neutron cross-capture section (sigma) and the hydrogen index (HI). Additionally, the latest generation PNL tools have the capability to perform elemental spectroscopy measurements for lithology analysis, similarly to the OH devices. In our case studies these measurements were compared to X-Ray fluorescence and X-Ray diffraction analysis done in sidewall cores. We will also discuss about a new nuclear property, the fast-neutrons cross-section (FNXS), mainly sensitive to the gas-filled porosity. The combination of FNXS with the HI is useful to detect and quantify the gas volume, even in low porosities, where other CH methodologies are less conclusive.We will show that the CH PNL data can provide sufficient information to evaluate the formation, and when combined with dipolar sonic data we can improve the volumetric analysis robustness and compute mechanical properties for the stimulation design.
