| Resumen | Calibration of seismic to geology in wells is crucial prior to performstructural and stratigraphic interpretation or seismic characterization for rock properties. Interpretation uncertainty will depend on the correlation obtained during the well calibration process. Borehole seismic contains information about the reflection and transmission properties of the Earth, and thereforeis essential to link surface seismic to wells.Corridor stacks from VSP (Vertical Seismic Profiles) can be described as a multiple free, zero phase, normal incidence response at the well, and therefore can be correlated with seismic traces for a more accurate seismic to well calibration to estimate phasefor interpretation. Approximately 700 VSPs acquired with P sourcewere compiled and evaluated in the San Jorge, Neuquén and Cuyo basins to analyse their potential for S wave conversion for velocity Vs estimation, to estimate the attenuation Q factor, and eventually the occurrence of anisotropy HTI (Horizontal Transverse Isotropy). Around 100 VSP in Argentina were identified with high potential (>70%) to recover converted S wavesfor velocity Vs estimation and attenuation factors Q(p) and Q(s), importantto be used to calibrate 3D elastic inversions and create the initial modelformicroseismic. This study demonstrates the presence of shear waves in zero-offset VSP acquire with P source forconventional and unconventional reservoirs in Argentina and propose a workflow to maximize the value of VSP by means of a more robust trace to trace calibration and shear velocities derivation in exploration and development projects. |
