DE RESERVORIOS CONVENCIONALES A RESERVORIOS SHALE: CARACTERIZACIÓN SISMO-ESTRATIGRÁFICA Y SEDIMENTOLÓGICA DEL INTERVALO AGRIO-CENTENARIO EN LA CUENCA NEUQUINA - 40 p. ; 35-73
The Agrio Formation (Late Valanginian-Late Hauterivian) is the youngest marine source rock in the Neuquén basin, shallower than the exceptional Vaca Muerta shales and the Los Molles turbidites. The Agrio is a complex marine and continental succession, which is producing hydrocarbons from conventional and unconventional plays. The time-equivalent of the Agrio in the basin border, the Centenario Formation, is a mainly continental succession, also a target for oil and gas to the South and East of the Agrio distribution area. To refine the existing understanding of the Agrio-Centenario interval, three regional cross-sections were delineated across the basin, capturing the main sequences and facies variability. Key to this project was the collaboration among the companies working in the area, following a Team spirit and permitting to get the big picture of the system: geoscientists from many operators and Academia shared seismic and well data, integrating the subsurface information with the outcrops located to the west of the basin. The current work summarizes the results obtained from the study of two of the three aforementioned regional cross sections (Transects 1 and 3),
