Conspicuous undulated and monticular facies are described for the first time in the Paleocene sequence in the Punta del Este Basin, offshore Uruguay. These facies are inferred to have been produced by bottom currents, confirming the importance of these processes in the structuration of the continental margin of Uruguay. The presence of contourites on the Paleocene sequence can have important bearings on hydrocarbon exploration.
