Transcripción del resumen original del autor: Creep rupture and Rapid Crack Propagation resistance are the main design criteria limiting the operating pressure of polyethylene (PE) gas pipelines. This paper is aiming at giving a brief update to engineers and end users on the most recent technologies developed to extend the operational envelope of polyethylene-based pipelines. Specifically the use of coextruded pipes made of cross-linked polyethylene (ChemPEX) and PE100 is described and the details of a field test are given. ChemPEX is the new cross-linked polyethylene piping system developed by Sigma Advisory Group directly with the base resin raw material supplier, Solvay Polyolefins Europe. Sigma Advisory Group is an independent company operating in partnership with major North American and European industrial groups in the development of new applications for thermoplastic materials. ChemPEX is available today in Europe, North America and Middle East through a network of local pipe manufacturers operating under a single quality plan devised by Sigma and Solvay Polyolefins Europe.
