Numerous new oil and gas fields were found throughout the Kingdom including Tertiary oil and gas along the Red Sea coast; Paleozoic (Pre-Khuff) oil and gas in Northwestern, Central, and Eastern Saudi Arabia; and extensive delineation and reserves additions to existing Khuff gas fields. This paper highlights the Pre-Khuff sweet gas and condensate discoveries of Eastern Saudi Arabia (Figure 1) and focuses on the hydrocarbon geology of the primary exploration plays there; including sourcing and trapping of these hydrocarbons in the Devonian Jauf Reservoir and reservoirs of the Carboniferous to Permian Unayzah Formation. = WPC (16th.)
