The use of retractor elevation models in the computation of refraction static - Instituto Argentino del Petróleo, IAP - 3 p. - Daly, C. .
The purpose of this paper is threefold. First, we will use a simple synthetic example to demostrate that delay times without information about weathering velocities will not yiel a unique refraction static solution (Archer and Heathcote, 1985). Second, we will ilustrate with a field data example how use a refractor elevation model can improve a refraction static solution. Third, we will show that the benefits of a commonly used technique -so called "residual refraction statics"- can be obtained more appropriartely using a refractor-elevation model. Since the primary concern is model construction and static calculation, we assume that accurate delay times are available for both the synthetic and fiel data examples.
