Online resources: In: Summary: The Precuyano Cycle is one of the most heterogeneous stratigraphic records corresponding to the rifting stage evolution of the Neuquén Basin. Each volcanic-sedimentary depocenter has infill particularities and because of that, it is necessary to apply several methodologies in order to describe it properly. In this paper, we analyzed the Precuyo stratigraphic succession in the Ranquil Co Field employing cutting and petrographic description, logging and resistivity images in the attempt to achieve a methodology that is known as a decision tree. This was a useful method to identify different volcanic rock and depositional patterns in those wells in which there is a lack of information. The conjunction of this study with the seismic interpretation allows describing in detail the Precuyano Cycle in this depocenter.
