CARACTERIZACIÓN DE UN SWEET SPOT PARA EL PLAY LOS MOLLES NOC PETRÓLEO EN EL FLANCO NORTE DE LA DORSAL DE HUINCUL, ÁREAS LOS BASTOS - PUNTA SENILLOSA, CUENCA NEUQUINA

Online resources: In: Summary: The level of know-how achieved in traditional unconventional plays such as Vaca Muerta formation opens up the opportunity to reassess other plays that have been relegated from the center of the Argentine energy scene. Los Molles formation, which was the first formation evaluated with a horizontal survey in Argentina (2010) and whose hydrocarbon potential (52.7 MMBO) occupies second place in the Neuquén Basin, is one of them. Its very low exploratory maturity is reflected in the later incorporation of only 7 vertical wells restricted in the area of the Dorsal de Huincul. Aspects such as its greater depth than Vaca Muerta (1500-4700 mbnt), facial heterogeneity, structural complexity and local variations in thickness are the main factors that have delayed its evaluation. Well PS-1011 (Punta Senillosa - 2018) was the first well fractured and tested in Los Molles NOC oil play for this area and in the basin. Motivated by the result, the available information was integrated into a model in which the extension of a 60 km2 oil sweet spot was defined, where different critical factors have homogeneous properties and predictable variations. The project was developed on the northern flank of the Las Chivas-Punta Senillosa anticlines, where the greatest thickness of the unit (180m) is preserved. Depth range between 2,500 and 3,300 mbgl and with 14-20° dip. As regards the maturity window, it ranges from peak oil to late oil (0.9-1.3% Ro). Up to two navigation levels of 50m thick were defined, corresponding to calcareous claystones deposited in the late transgressive-early regressive stages of the Toarcian parasequence of Gr. Cuyo. They present good petrophysical conditions (porosity: 9%, SW: 36% and Storage: 232Bo/acre*ft, TOC up to 3.7%) and homogeneous geomechanical properties (Reservoir Pore Pressure: 0.63 psi/ft). Each level was stimulated with a 350 thousand pounds fracture reaching an initial flow of 8m3/d (orifice: 3mm) of 49°API volatile oil. The characteristics of the 58 km2 sweet spot and the data from the PS-1011 test encourage the drilling of a horizontal exploratory well to derisk the play and evaluate its real productivity. A successful case in the Puesto Parada Vaca Muerta oil project would be a catalyst for Los Molles by providing infrastructure synergies. In this way, the Los Bastos-Punta Senillosa blocks have the potential to become the first area with multiple levels of navigation due to overlapping plays, generating new paradigms in the exploration of the unconventional frontier plays of the Neuquén basin.
