Transcripción del abstract original del autor: Today, first built aboveground LNG tanks reaches an appreciable age to identify problems owed to long period operation. GL2Z plant tanks are more than 20 years old and located on marine area, corrosion caused severe damages despite of regular maintenance and coating; for this reason, decision was made to renovate the LNG tanks to eliminate corrosion problems and to considerably increase time between two maintenance's. Because of prohibited hot works, safety considerations, and ecological preoccupation, alternative solutions for durable maintenance must be applied. New generation of composite materials for cold repair and coating and new surface preparation facilities offers durable solutions considering that work must be done during normal operation of the tanks. The difficulty resides on the choice between different products and the adaptation for different application. This communication provides guidelines to help LNG plants to prepare a renovation project starting from inspection to determine the scope of work, to the choice of technical countermeasures with newest facilities and materials for a long efficacy of repairs and coatings. For each step of the project, solutions will be proposed and a choice will be made on each one based on best technical and economical issues.
